Samsung denies any correlation between the KitKat update and the reported incompatibility of the third-party accessory for Note 3
Yesterday we reported that due to Samsung’s new policy that prevents non-official accessories to work on Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Spigen S-View cover no longer work with the handset once updated to KitKat. In all, this will happen to all third-party accessories that don’t include Samsung’s identification chip on board as it came clear with our latest report. Silently, the XDA team suggested a method that would cheat the system and make your S-View cover work once again with the Galaxy Note 3 even after its Android gets updated.
While this incompatibility matter grows bigger, Samsung has provided the media with an official statement to AllAboutSamsung and according to the Korean company; it’s all about customers to use official products. This is no shocker since Samsung (as any other big company) tries to create its own ecosystem of branded products, so the company is protecting its rights to do that. The statement points out those users should use only official accessories in order to maintain a smooth and pleasant experience. The surprise comes, however, in the second part of the announcement that clearly rejects any correlation between the Android 4.4 KitKat update and the reported incompatibility of the third-party cases. It’s most likely for Samsung to have made few changes that unintentionally or not have caused the issue. Whether that’s the case or not, it’s a fact that now many users are left with non-working accessories for their Galaxy Notes because they wanted to update their Android. Let’s hope there’ll be a solution soon.
