Corning is the company behind the Gorilla Glass. It is the most widely used protective coat for smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and TVs. Yesterday, the company took the stage of CES 2014 to announce a new type of glass. The anti-bacterial Gorilla Glass is developed with unique innovative technology. It has a coating with antimicrobial properties with ionic silver.
Today a lot of the mobile devices are highly resistant to dust, water and hits. They meet the needs of users to take their handsets everywhere they go. However the more we use our smartphone or tablet, the dirtier it gets covered with bacteria and germs.
Corning has managed to integrate ionic silver to the Gorilla Glass. The new technology does not harm the quality of the protective coating in any way. The company announced that the Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass is appropriate for integrating in a wide range of devices. It can be used for desktops, smartphones and tablets, wearable gadgets etc. Each device that works with an electronic display can be enriched with the new generation Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass.
This is the first time that Corning is presenting the innovative technology with germophobic coating. The future will show whether manufacturers will embrace the idea of integrating the unique glass in their devices. The company confirmed that it is ready to begin mass production.
