Latest report reveals that Apple has purchased SnappyLabs company
New rumors reveal that Apple has acquired SnappyLabs
It has been awhile since we have heard news about a new acquisition by Apple. A report from Saturday reveals that the mobile giant has recently purchased SnappyLabs, the company behind one of the most successful camera apps in the Apple App Store – the SnappyCam.
The amazing capabilities of the app enable users to take 20-30 full resolution photos per second with their iPhones. No other burst setting of iPhone can deliver such results with such quality. The head of the company is John Papandriopoulos. He is an electrical engineer from Down Under who managed to develop such technology that is capable to take so many shots for a single second. The first hints that something is going on with the app came from its sudden disappearing from the App Store. In addition, the official website of SnappyLabs which is the developer of SnappyCam is no longer working. Sources close to the company revealed on Saturday that Apple has recently acquired the SnappyLabs. It seems that the mobile giant was not the only one interested in purchasing the app. Apple has not confirmed the deal just yet, so take the news just as a gossip for now.
When the SnappyCam was available in App Store it was sold for $1. In the last year it is one of the best selling apps from the App Store in 9 countries. It is especially developed for iOS platform. Therefore the purchase of the company by Apple seems as a logical step. We are eager to know more details about the deal, like the value of the acquisition and the plans of the mobile giant for the app. Many predict that if rumors turn out to be true, it is very possible to see the app integrated in the next generation flagship Apple iPhone 6 in fall. We will wait and see.
