Sony might release a Windows Phone running smartphone in 2014
Sony is considering the possibility to launch Windows Phone powered phone
2014 will be one of the most interesting years in the digit world. One of the trends that will be following in the next 12 months is how the operating systems will be developing and “winning” the hearts of users. Windows Phone is among the fastest developing platforms that have a great potential to compete against the most popular Android and iOS. The first association with the Microsoft’s operating system is the Lumia line by Nokia. The Finnish manufacturer is the leader on the market in developing Windows Phone powered models. And it seems that users accept very well the current situation. Other manufacturers have also released Windows Phone running smartphones, like Samsung, Huawei, HTC and ZTE. However none of the devices have had even close to the Lumia’s success. With the acquisition of the Lumia line by Microsoft the expectations suggest that this match made in heaven between the smartphones and the platform will only grow stronger.
Recent rumors reveal that another player might arrive soon on the mobile arena with some Windows Phone powered models. Sources reveal that the Japanese manufacturer Sony is negotiation with Microsoft about the possibility for launching a smartphone running on Windows Phone OS. The tipsters share that the extraordinary device will be part of the Vaio brand similar to the computer line of Sony that is working on Windows OS. If rumors turn out to be true the phone can be expected in the summer of 2014.
Many experts believe that Microsoft will not be too excited by the idea of another Windows Phone device to hit the markets, especially after it is acquiring the strongest line that is popularizing the platform – the Lumias. One thing is certain – if the mobile giant aims to increase the popularity of the Windows Phone amongst users, it will need more partners and different models devices. Rumors say that Microsoft is already in talks with ZTE for launching of Windows Phone – powered models. Not long ago Sony was working on the “Jolie” phone that runs on the platform. However it never really reached the final phase of the development.
