The Knock app will enrich the mid-rangers from the Optimus L series
The gesture-based app Knock arrives in vast number of smartphones in January
When LG G2 debuted on the mobile arena it impressed us with a lot of innovative features and solutions. For example, the power button of the phone is located on its back panel. LG claims that this new placement of the button brings better convenience for users on daily bases. To make the unlocking of the screen of G2 more comfortable and faster, the company introduced the feature KnockOn. It is a gesture based app that allows users to unlock their device via a simple double-tap on the screen.
The feature is so easy to use and convenient that now LG has decided to provide it for a wide range of its smartphones, including some mid-range models from the line Optimus L. For now KnockOn is available in the more advanced devices, like the flagship LG G2 and the tablet LG G Pad 8.3. The manufacturer will be releasing an update with the certain improvements and the feature Knock (its new name) in January 2014.
Which models will receive the update? In general this depends on the local carriers and the capabilities of the device. The models that are most likely to get the Knock are LG Optimus L1 II, LG Optimus L4 II, LG Optimus L7 II and LG Optimus L9 II among others. The convenience of the app makes it a most certain addition to the upcoming new models by LG in 2014. The gesture based features are one of the fastest developing trends in the mobile world. Users seem to accept them rather well, so don’t be surprised if you see more and more innovative features based on swipes that assure more satisfying user experience. It is great to see that LG is upgrading with Knock the mid-rangers of its product line. The L Series are among the most successful lines in the history of the company with more than 10 million units sold in the first 10 months after the launching of the original Optimus L model.
