XE12 update for Google Glass is rolling out
Google Glass is now updated with XE12
Even though not a lot of people own Google Glass units, the regular updates are pretty exciting events because they give us a nice idea of the capabilities of the device when it gets ready for release next year. This month is the time for the XE12 to improve the software of the Glass. The news for the update was shared on the official page of the Google Glass via Google+. Among the key features and improvements in XE12 include a capability with Apple’s devices. Google is launching a special MyGlass app for iOS that will work with Apple iPhones. In fact the app is almost ready for use and it was included for a moment in App Store. Google pulled out the app with the promise to release it in a few days. Another important feature in the update is in the Music app.
Users that have subscribed for Google Play Music can take advantage from the possibility to listen to music or radio with a special personalized playlist created with the feature “I’m Feeling Lucky” that consists of songs and music recently listened by the user. Google Glass now supports Hangouts chats and the capabilities for sending photo messages. The update enables direct uploading of videos to YouTube. Among the most important improvements is in the Lockscreen. Now the Glass features a lock screen that boosts the security of the Glass.
Something very interesting is the way the lockscreen can be bypassed – with a “secret Glass handshake” that is unique for each unit. It can be set-up in the Settings menu of the device. If you love taking photos, you will enjoy the so called “Wink” feature. It enables users to take photos only with a wink of the eye. It works almost like magic. The XE12 update is available for download from the Glass Explorers’ site.
