Can HTC survive 2014 and get back on its feet?

So what’s next for HTC?

HTC might be facing a lot of problems lately, like quarterly loss of $100 million on revenues of $1.6 billion as well as some unpleasant situations in the court, however no one can deny that the Taiwanese company manufacture great devices. In fact, HTC has made the very first consumer Android handset along with the first WiMAX and LTE ones, as well as the first smartphone with 3D camera and even the very first Google Nexus device. The company certainly has its ups and downs, and now- at the end of 2013- we can’t help but wonder what to expect from HTC in the near future.

For start, the company is trying to jump on its feet by shuffling between executives. Yesterday, the CFO of HTC Chang took the position of head of global sales to start dealing with the problematic situation on the market. Some companies feel very excited for what awaits in 2014, but for HTC it’s simply the beginning of a real battle. So what’s next for HTC?

First, the company needs to find the perfect formula and release an adequate successor of its flagship HTC One. Basically, the HTC devices have lots of reboots since 2008 like HTC EVO 4G, HTC EVO 4G LTE, HTC One X, HTC One S and many more. In 2013, however, the company could pull out only four major smartphones: HTC One, HTC One Max, HTC One Mini and the First. These models are certainly splendid in terms of hardware, specification, processing and everything, but in 2014, the company needs to pull out adequate successors to each of them. Whether it’s the rumoured HTC One 2, or another model, HTC would take advantage of that opportunity.

Second, the BoomSound. Perhaps this is one of the greatest features in HTC One that makes everyone hype about the handset. Even though HTC and Beats recently ‘divorced’, that doesn’t mean the phone maker can’t include giant dual front-facing speakers in its upcoming devices, right? This is also a big opportunity for HTC to go back in business in a big way with louder, stronger sound and something to blow your mind.

Third, the UltraPixel at higher resolutions. HTC One is capable of taking amazing photos, but unfortunately it didn’t feature image sensors, which pushed the device behind the likes of Nokia Lumia 1020 with the extreme 41-megapixel sensor in PureView. What are HTC’s options? One word- UltraPixel. In fact, it’s really likely for the company to manage to pull out a 13-megapixel UltraPixel camera in some of its next smartphones. That’s another opportunity the Taiwanese phone maker should take right away.

Fourth, HTC should definitely keep on participating in making more Google Play edition devices, and at the same time it should centre on differentiation with its software, like Motorola Moto X.

And last, why not making a small tablet with a stylus. Who wouldn’t like a 8-incher paired with a special stylus?

In the end, let’s hope HTC would survive 2014 and go back to its feet.
