Nokia will not develop the project for Android-powered models, at least for now
Nokia changes its focus from Android-based phones to innovative wearable devices
One of the most exciting recent rumors for Nokia revealed that the company is still working on the concept for an Android-powered handset. Around two months ago there were speculations that the Finnish carrier is working on Normandy line models that will run on the Google’s platform. Just recently the famous website C Technology revealed that the company is working on Android Asha phones. The gossip was about low-end Android devices manufactured by Nokia. There were rumors for a 7-inches tablet with Snapdragon 400 running on the platform. One of the leading figures in the project was the head of Nokia’s Ux design Peter Skillman.
Many of us enjoyed the news that Finnish manufacturer is ready to bring some diversity in its Windows Phone-powered devices. However this might not be the case. New rumors coming again from the C Technology site confirm that Nokia will not continue the project for Android smartphones or slates, at least not for now. The approval of the deal for the partial acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft perhaps has also influenced the decision for the pausing of the project. The contract between the companies includes clauses revealing that Nokia will no launch smartphones, phones or tablets under the brand’s name for the next 2 years from now. If the manufacturer still wants to release a new smartphone running on Android, it can do it through a completely new brand. The challenge is big considering the intense competition on the market.
The website unveils the plans for development of Nokia. The Finnish company will be developing innovative devices with the new technologies for wireless power transmission, like wearable gadgets. There are rumors that the Nokia’s smartwatch that is undergoing work might be released by Microsoft. However the Nokia smart glasses will be launched by the company, expected to arrive in 2015.
