Cached music won’t be limited to the internal storage
Google Play Music got updated and the new setup is already rolling out in the Google Play Store. Everyone who uses the music app on their device with an SD card will take advantage of a very great new feature. Google Play Music version 5.3 will now allow its users to store cached and pinned music on the external storage on their smart device- their microSD card. Not that the music application hasn’t been able to play music from the external storage. But since today the cached from online libraries music won’t be limited to the internal storage.
Many of us have a limited integrated built-in storage, so the tweak is quite a big deal. No worries if you’re using a low-end Samsung smartphone, for example. Every single bit of your internal storage is precious, but now you can offload all your music to the microSD card and enjoy as much as cached music as you desire. The new option grants to change the location of your cache music in Music Settings> Download> Storage location.
There is one curious question about the whole thing that deserves special attention. Considering the fact, that it is Google’s Nexus devices that usually lack external storage, why does Google give other devices a boost? If you remember, recently an Android engineer at Google made a statement that the company is tired of seeing OEMs to include that many GB of internal storage for music while users are running out of space for data. Apparently Google prefers to provide phones with a huge internal storage for all so an external one won’t be needed. Perhaps Google is trying hard to help everyone so for that we salute them.
The new update of Google Play Music has been pushed out to smart devices gradually so it will arrive to your phone or tablet as soon as possible in the next few days day.
