New markets in Europe welcome the Firefox OS powered smartphones
Firefox OS is the mobile platform developed by Mozilla. It is progressing more and more in the tech world in the last year. The company is working with different manufacturers, developers and mobile operators around the globe. The main advantage of the Firefox OS is its simple and intuitive user interface. The big goal of Mozilla is to provide an alternative for manufacturers and users to the most famous iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
The company has already made its first steps towards users. Alcatel and ZTE integrated the platform in two entry-level smartphones that are accepted very well by the audience. ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch Fire were officially released in some countries in Europe and Latin America earlier this year. The latest news about Firefox OS reveals that more markets are welcoming the phones.
In October the phone hit the shelves of German retailers. The carrier Congstar owned by Deutsche Telekom was the first to launch One Touch Fire in the country. Few days ago Mozilla revealed that the phone is arriving in Montenegro, Serbia, Greece and Hungary. This means that the Frirefox OS powered handsets are available in 13 markets worldwide.
Which carriers will offer the Alcatel One Touch Fire smartphone? The mobile operator Telenor is launching the phone in Montenegro, Serbia and Hungary. Another carrier in Hungary that will release One Touch Fire is Deutsche Telekom.
In Greece the carrier COSMOTE is releasing the mode. Telenor in Norway also revealed its plans to present the Firefox OS powered models in Asia in the beginning of 2014. In Latin America, the smartphones are available in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Uruguay and Mexico. They have landed also in the US, the UK, Spain, Poland and Germany.
The Firefox OS is among the youngest mobile operating systems in the tech world today. LG has already confirmed its plans to release smartphones running on the platform. Mozilla is working with more manufacturers for entry-level and high-end devices coming up in the near future.
