Find My Friends finally got its iOS 7 update along with a brand new design
At last, Apple released an update for its iOS 7 Find My Friends app. The 3.0 version hit the social networking category and is available to download for free.
Find My Friends, as the title suggests, offers iPhone, iPad and iPod users to easily locate their friends, family members and everyone they need by singing with the Apple ID they use on iCloud. If you’re an iOS user and you want to add your friends, simply choose them from your contact list or provide an email and wait for your friends to accept the invitation. Since this is a social network, they need to have the Find My Friends installed as well. Once you’re done, the application will allow you to follow their location for a specific period of time, notify you automatically when a friend arrives at the airport, a child leaves school, or a family member arrives home safely etc.
The app features:
- Easily locate friends and family
- Temporary sharing option
- Location-based notifications
- Simple privacy controls
- Parental restrictions
- Free for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
The new update offers a real life paper map design , completely replacing the annoying fake stitched leather interface that nobody seemed to like, and features more space, transparency and lighter performance. It also switches user avatars from squares to circles, because that’s how fashion rolls these days. You can download the update from the App Store HERE.
Off the record, there’s a rumour that Steve Jobs might had been a fan of skeuomorphism which explains the fact why Apple used to put it on so many of its apps, including the stitched leather interface voiced by Ricardo Montablan 1988 voice-over in the previous Find My friends version.
Speaking of redesigns, iBooks also got its makeover for iOS 7 and it pretty much looks similar to its interface on OS X Mavericks with all the beautiful bookshelves that hold your favourite books. [download]
