Nexus 5 D820 and D821- different mobile network bands
The Google Nexus 5 has two models as it goes for many other smartphones as well. As we know, there is a North America version of the Nexus 5 model that is Nexus 5 LG-D820 and another one for the rest of the world that goes with the name Nexus 5 LG-D821. Apparently, both of them look exactly the same with the exact indistinguishable colors and 1.3MP cameras and share many of the same specs, like the options of storage for example. Furthermore, the specs sheet for the screen, the CPU QUALCOMM Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz processor, the 2GB of RAM, the 16GB or 32GB internal storage, the 4.95” 1920×1080 display (445 ppi)Full HD IPS, the 2300 mAh battery, the sensors Wi-Fi and everything else is also identical.
So, you can’t spot the difference at first sight, since it lies in the connectivity and the radios of each model since it’s basically impossible to fit every radio into one single model. The D820 version of the Nexus 5 model for North America will logically connect to 2G, 3G or LTE on AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, while the Nexus LG-D821 is set to work with the rest of the world and shouldn’t have any problems connecting to 2G, 3G and LTE throughout Europe, for example. The only issue comes to the Asian carriers because Asia is a grey zone with entirely different networks, as an example China Mobile uses proprietary 3G that kept Apple iPhone out of the picture for the Chinese carrier.
Here is the spec sheet of the mobile radio network bands for the two Nexus 5 models, so you should take these into consideration before you make a purchase at a carrier of your choice:
