BlackBerry brings BBM to Android and iPhone within days
Blackberry’s open letter to the world promised they are bringing the most engaging mobile messaging platform to all with BBM launch for Android and iPhone and over 6 million people are already registered to be informed when it’s available.
‘There are already around six million customers pre-registered to be notified of our roll out. This number is growing every day, and speaks to the tremendous opportunity we have to expand BBM beyond BlackBerry smartphones to make it the world’s largest mobile social network…. Yes, there is a lot of competition out there and we know that BlackBerry is not for everyone. That’s OK. ‘, says the letter.
In fact, BBM had to release the Android version on September 21st, however there were issues caused by the earlier leak of an unofficial version of the app that appeared on the Google Play store. This brought the company to cut off access to that version for 1.1 million users until further notice.
Apparently, all previous issues have been fully fixed and the pause of the app release is off. BBM will launch on both Android and iPhone ‘within days’. BlackBerry also rolled a new beta version of the BBM app with certain changes to its previous version and bug fixes. The beta-testers haven’t been told about any potential release date still, however a technology website CrackBerry claims that things are moving ahead and BlackBerry are certainly staying true to their previous comments about launching BBM, which sounds indeed promising.
This was followed by some rumours that BBM might be coming out on Windows Phone 8, but this has not been confirmed yet neither by BlackBerry or Microsoft.
