T-Mobile to offer unlimited data worldwide, 20 cents flat rate for voice calls
T-Mobile is becoming one of the carriers offering the cheapest international roaming plans. After October 31, T-Mobile enters phase three of the UNCarrier, allowing customers to use unlimited data and texts in more than 100 countries at no extra costs and a lower flat rate of 20 cents for voice calls in roaming.
John Legere, company’s CEO said that the costs of the roaming services were completely crazy. He added that today’s smartphones were designed to work across borders but any users who were abroad needed to pay insanely inflated connectivity fees. T-Mobile is going to change that, “It doesn’t have to be this way”, said Legere.
More than 55 million people travel each year outside the US and more than 40% of them turn off data roaming completely. Some people are really horrified when they get back hope, seeing the huge bills, often more than $1000. That means the companies take on huge roaming fees, which causes often the people to cut off communications, instead of being connected in the global world, John Legere added.
T-Mobile expands its data coverage, including more than 100 countries at no additional costs. That means all business and individual customers will get unlimited data and texts and they will pay only the flat rate of 20 cents per minute for voice calls in roaming. Additionally, T-Mobile launches “International Talk & Text” that will cost $10 per month, offering discounted calls and texts worldwide. If you add the additional package you will never pay more than $0.20 per minute for a call to any number in the Simple Global countries. Moreover, calls to landlines to 70 countries are unlimited, T-Mobile explains.
Of course, you are not be able to use the local LTE networks abroad, so the new service will be set at around 128kbps.
