Release date of iPad mini 2 might be delayed
The leaks for Apple iPad 5 are emerging every day. The full-sized tablet is expected to arrive later this month. It will be launched few weeks after its official announcement along with its smaller sibling iPad mini 2. However this might not be the case for the small-sized slate. Lately there are rumors that the new generation mini tablet will not be unveiled that soon. A new report from the supply chains shared with Reuters that the manufacturing process is progressing slower than expected and the release of the iPad mini 2 will be delayed.
The new generation iPad mini is designed with a high-resolution Retina display which is the main reason why the mass production of the slate will take longer time than planned. If the 8-inches iPad mini 2 gets released this year, it will be in very limited quantities. The other option for Apple is to delay the launching of the slate with several months and to push the date back for the next year.
The competition on the tablets’ arena is very intense. Many of the high-end modern tablets sport the high-resolution Retina display. Some of the devices that are equipped with the retina are Google Nexus 7 and the tablet Amazon Kindle Fire HDX that will be available for sells next month. The pressure on Apple to release a successful model tablet is increasing. Experts like Frank Gillett comment that “If they don’t put the retina… there will be howls.”
Another reason for the delay of the launching of iPad mini 2 can be the demands by Apple to suppliers for reducing the costs. Sources say that the company is considering releasing an 8GB version of the iPad mini 2 that will be offered at more affordable price. The iPad mini 2 is expected to be the priciest amongst the tablets with 7 to 8-inches displays.
Apple has not made any announcement regarding the rumors for the delaying of the iPad mini 2.
