Apple sends out iOS 7.0.2 update with important bug fixes
When we shared with you the reported serious bugs with the lockscreen and the emergency calling option in iOS 7, we added that Apple is working on the problems and promises that they will be fixed really soon. Soon after that, the company released the iOS 7.0.1 update that brought bug fixes of the Touch ID. Today Apple has begun to roll out the iOS 7.0.2 update that will fix the bugs, causing the weakness in the security of the devices.
The update is very small in size. Apple is sending it out over the air, those of you who want to update manually their devices should go to Settings – General – Software Update. The iOS 7.0.2 brings some minor improvements of features and the most wanted bug fixes. The problems reported by users were related to the weakness of the lockscreen passcode and the emergency calling. In a video, users were showing how to reach a multitasking menu, hacking the passcode of the lockscreen. The users then had an access to the camera app which provided wider access to profiles in social networks and personal data. The emergency calling bug was even more serious, allowing unauthorized calls. The problem with the lockscreen could be avoided by disabling the ability to access the Control Center of your device through the lockscreen. It was not the perfect option but it was good to have it. However there was not anything you can do to protect your device from unauthorized calls, except avoiding to give it to strangers.
Thankfully Apple kept its promise and now the iOS 7.0.2 will take care of the issues. In addition, users will get the Greek keyboard option for a passcode. Owners of iPhone 5S and devices with fingerprint scanner technology will no longer need the option for lockscreen. The future is in the security features with fingerprint sensor.
