LG and Samsung introduce the new tablet Homeboy
Interesting things are happening in the mobile world. We see a lot of changes, breakthrough technologies and hybrid devices that we have not even dreamed about. Just when we thought we have seen everything, this news caught us by a surprise. It comes from South Korea.
LG has recently launched a 7-inch tablet named the Homeboy released in the country. We have heard that LG is working on a tablet but that definitely is not the rumored model G Pad. Even more surprising thing about the new slate is that it is made by Samsung, one of the biggest rivals of LG. It is definitely not something we see every day, two mobile giant to team up and to release a new device. Well, it turns out that the main reason for this partnership is because LG is the main wireless operator in South Korea. If we look at it from this perspective, the partnership is strictly between the wireless carrier LG and the manufacturer Samsung. That is how the Homeboy was designed to conquer the market. His design has a lot of resembling with Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0.
The Homeboy will compete against the low-cost tablet of Amazon, Kindle Fire. Samsung promotes the device as “smart-home devices to replace conventional home appliances” with the options to access 50 different TV channels, music, e-books and movies. The Homeboy is a real home appliance with additional capabilities similar to CCTV. The primary camera of the slate enables users to observe the inside of the house via their smartphones.
The news for the launching of LG tablet made us even more impatient to see the rumors G Pad and the upcoming large-sized devices promised by the company. Many believe that the G Pad will make its first appearance at IFA, Berlin in few weeks. The Homeboy sounds like a nice addition to the tablets’ arena. Samsung has not revealed whether it is planning to introduce the slate overseas.
