News and more issues about the new YouTube app for Windows Phone
Just when we all thought that the going on drama between Google and Microsoft related to the YouTube app for Windows Phone OS was over; we are back on this topic with the latest news. For those of you who are following the whole story, the new development of the things is certainly not a surprise, but more likely a déjà vu.
Just two days ago we were glad to announce that Google and Microsoft have managed to team up on developing a new YouTube app that would make both companies and users happy. Everything seemed alright and the new version of the app was provided for download via Windows Phone Store. However all this continued for less than two days before users started reporting that the app is not working properly. Not long after that Google confirmed that it has blocked the app (again) because it violets the Terms of Service.
Microsoft has also something to say on this topic and the company did present its point of view in a statement, posted on its blog. You can read the whole message in the source link. In short, Microsoft explains that it has complied with the request by Google to remove the option for video downloads. The company adds that the new app enables ads, apart from the earlier version released in May. Microsoft makes a hint that Google is taking actions against this version of the YouTube app to limit users of Windows Phone to use it, as the two other big platforms Android and iOS work with their versions of the application.
Perhaps Google will respond to the statement of Microsoft in the coming days. And perhaps we will not hear anything new from neither of the companies. One thing is certain – this drama doesn’t seem to be getting over soon. What are your thoughts about the latest events?
