Free London Underground WiFi for O2 customers
Good news for all O2 customers travelling on the London Underground. Their free internet access will be reinstated again in June, according to an official announcement from the carrier, where O2 reveals more details about their agreement with Virgin Media. From June, O2 customers will enjoy free WiFi at no extra cost. With the agreement between O2 and Virgin, the majority of Tube passengers will stay connected (EE and Vodafone have already partnered with Virgin). For convenience of the existing O2 customers, they will be automatically registered for free WiFi, without the need of re-entering or remembering the password.
According to Gary Booker, O2 Head of Consumer, most customers want to stay online whether they are, and the demand for wireless services has been increasing rapidly. O2 will give the possibilities for all customers to be connected with their families, friends and colleagues, to shop online, or to update their Facebook status, said Booker. This will be possible at no extra cost using Virgin’s optical network. The company is seriously engaged in the development of the Tube WiFi network. The total number of Virgin’s enabled stations will grow up to 120, after another 12 stations coming online this week.
