ASUS Padfone (First Generation) gets Jelly Bean
ASUS Padfone can’t pretend to be nearly as good as Asus Padfone 2. This is not a reason, however, to leave the device without further support. It seems that the guys at ASUS know this – we are seeing a roll-out of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for this device. This means that ASUS Padfone is getting some of our favourite features – Jelly Bean, which makes everything go smoothly, and Google Now, which makes sure that you know everything you need exactly when you need to. And, moreover, the notification area will be improved, now allowing you to make a phone call, send or receive an email or text message or view photos or videos directly from the notification.
The update, however, does not come clear. This Android 4.1.1 version is modified by ASUS in order to fit the ASUS Padfone better. So, if you update your device, you are bound to get an improved dictionary and better camera preview function. From ASUS have enhanced the Scrapbook and taken care of the problem with the volume button. The integrated File Manager app is also better and the device now supports SD cards in NTFS and ex-FAT format. In other words, the device will surely function a lot better with the new firmware.
The update comes out in two different versions – one worldwide (WW_V10.2.1.9) and one Chinese (V10.2.1.9CHT). The Chinese version is slightly larger (622MB) when compared to the worldwide version (579MB). The source link bellow will give you access to the updates on the ASUS website and you surely know which one you need. There are three download servers – Global, P2P and China.
