iPhone 5S won’t support wireless charging
These days wireless charging becomes more and more popular and a lot of people consider it a must-have feature of the new high-end phones. There are some reports that Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S will support it, but for now it seems that the next generation iPhone won’t come with it. Let’s summarize briefly the rumours so far and decide which one is trustworthy.
Earlier there was report that Samsung is adopting wireless charging. According to it, the future flagship of the company – Samsung Galaxy S4, will support Qi Wireless Charging. The same report suggested that Apple is also working on wireless charging technology, but this is an old information that is known from the Apple’s patents filed last year. According to them, a 2013 flagship of the company will support the technology, but it is not specified which one exactly – according to some rumours, Apple will release iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and a low-cost iPhone till the end of the year.
We think it is almost certain that iPhone 5S won’t come with wireless charging. The strategy of Apple is such that the ‘S’ versions are almost the same as their predecessors in design and their performance is boosted with the help of more RAM or enhancing other feature. In order for Apple to integrate wireless charging in the next generation of iPhone, they would have to make a significant design change, which is unlikely to happen. iPhone 6, however, may come with the feature and may also fit in the description ‘2013 flagship’ as Apple is said to be moving to a 6-month release plan. So don’t expect much from 5S, but be ready for a ground-breaking iPhone 6.
